Where can I find the right supplier to develop my own designs?

Hi I am from Venezuela and I want to start up my own brand designing Women’s Accessories. But I am not sure if all suppliers can do it. What does it take to find suppliers that develop my own designs? Which countries are the best sourcing for this?

I am afraid I don’t personally have much sourcing experience outside of China. But if you visit www.GlobalSources.com you can find suppliers from all over the world.  I also suggest you consider attending one of the fashion sourcing shows. Here is the link for the one I attend http://tradeshow.globalsources.com/TRADESHOW/FASHION-ACCESSORIES.HTM?source=GSOLHPNav

As you are just getting started and thinking about your options of using domestic vs. international suppliers, you may enjoy this blog post about the pros and cons of trying to establish suppliers in China when your orders are not large: Too small to go factory direct?

BTW, you mention you want the supplier to develop you designs. If you are worried about your designs or intellectual property being knocked of, you would be wise to read some of the blog posts I have written on the subject. You can find them by doing a search of key work “IP” at www.ChinaSourcingInfo.org

You also ask about how to qualify the potential suppliers. This question gets asked a lot at the “ask the experts” service, and for your reference, a good essay on the subject is available at China Sourcing Success/Failure Factors.

Wishing you successful China sourcing!

These are some great tips! I really like the list of pros and cons of finding a supplier in China or elsewhere. My colleague actually wrote a similar article discussing tips for finding a suitable supplier in China. You can read more about it here!
